The Verona boys basketball team bounced back Saturday morning from a hard-fought loss the night before with a 50-39 win over Glen Ridge. The Hillbillies held the lead for the whole game but Glen Ridge never buckled even when Verona went on their many runs.
Through the first three quarters, Verona kept their steady lead but Glen Ridge made a push in the fourth to cut the lead to four at one point. The Hillbillies did extend the lead back to double digits through foul shots and key buckets which put Glen Ridge away for good during the end of the fourth quarter.
Travis Jocelyn led Verona with 14 points, Joe Zecchino had 11, and Jack Farrell finished with 10. Verona’s next game will be against Newark Tech on Tuesday, January 24 at 4 p.m. in the VHS gym.
