Mr. John J. Blue, 64, died on Monday, January 9, 2017 at Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark. A Funeral Mass will be offered in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Verona on Friday, January 13 at 10 a.m. Visiting will be in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Born and raised in Jersey City, he moved to Verona in 1991.
Mr. Blue devoted his working career as a letter carrier with the United States Postal Service in Jersey City, Metuchen, Ridgefield and Bayonne. In retirement he worked at the Home Depot in Montville and was an avid golfer and bocce ball player.
Mr. Blue was predeceased by his parents, Victor J. Blue, Sr. and Mary F. (nee Janitschek) Blue and his avid golfing partner, Vic Aviles.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Maureen A. (nee McGivern) Blue, his brother, Victor J. Blue, Jr. and his wife, Lumina, and many close cousins and nieces.
