tenutoMrs. Frances C. Tenuto died on November 16, 2016 in Glen Ridge. A Funeral Mass will be offered in Our Lady of the Lake Church, Verona on Monday, November 21 at 10 a.m. Visiting in the Prout Funeral Home, 370 Bloomfield Avenue, Verona on Sunday, November 20 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.

Born in Warren, Pa., Mrs. Tenuto grew up in Upper Montclair and moved to Verona in 1951. In 2005, Mrs. Tenuto was awarded by the USA Freedom Corps, The President’s Volunteer Service Award presented by the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation in recognition and appreciation for her commitment to strengthening our nation and making a difference through volunteer service.

Mrs. Tenuto served on the Verona Board of Education for six years, was an active member of the Auxiliary of St. Vincent Nursing Home and active with PTA/SCA while she and her husband raised their children. She was active fundraiser for The Student Scholarship Fund and other resources to assist students and their families to provide financial assistance for higher education.

Mrs. Tenuto was a faithful and active communicant at Our Lady of the Lake Church, was a member of the Verona Woman’s Club and the Woman’s Club of Upper Montclair where she enjoyed social activities to include participating on The Strikers, the bowling league of the Club, up until recently. She was an active volunteer at the Van Vleck House in Montclair.

She was the wife of the late Patrick John Tenuto, the mother of William Leigh Tenuto, Patricia Ann Fagerstrom (and her husband, David), Richard Thomas Tenuto, Jeanmarie Tenuto and the late Diane Stevens. She was the sister of Thomas William Corr, the late Elizabeth Florence Zelmer and the grandmother of Timothy M. Stevens, Andrew L. Stevens, Michael D. Fagerstrom, Leigh Alicia Fagerstrom, Christiana Tenuto, Dana Tenuto, Jeffrey Schafer and one great-granddaughter.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Endowment Trust of Our Lady of the Lake Church, Verona NJ would be appreciated.
