Summer Reading Club For Adults

SuddenLightThe Verona Public Library is pleased to once again offer a Summer Reading Club for adults. This year’s theme is “Exercise Your Mind: Read!” Verona residents are encouraged to take the Library’s Reading Challenge to read different types of books (visit the Library or the website to pick up the checklist). Turn in a brief book review of each item read in exchange for a ticket for one of the Library’s great prizes! Tickets may also be earned by attending the Library’s adult programs.

Upcoming programs for the summer include:

  • June 21, 7 p.m.: Carnegie Club Book Discussion Group. A Sudden Light, by Garth Stein
  • July 19, 7 p.m.: Carnegie Club Book Discussion Group. Sphere of Influence, by Kyle Mills
  • July 21, 7 p.m.: Irish Harp Music with International Musician Kathleen Loughnane
  • July 26, 7 p.m.: Poetry Slam. Share your original poems or read a favorite! Must be suitable for all audiences.
  • August 8, 2 p.m.: Victorian Parlour Games with Judith Krall-Russo
  • August 16, 7 p.m.: Carnegie Club Book Discussion Group. Murder on the Orient Express, by Agatha Christie

Also in July: Yoga with certified yoga instructor, Betty Larrea. Wednesdays, July 6, 20 and 27 at 10 a.m.

A prize drawing will be held August 8 for the following: $100 gift certificate to Hillcrest Farms, $50 gift certificate to Verona Inn, $5 gift certificates to Green Point Juicery, and a Kindle Fire eReader. To qualify for the prizes, entrants must be Verona residents (age 18 & up). The Library would like to thank the previously mentioned local businesses for their generous donations!

The Children’s Summer Reading Club will kick off on Saturday, June 25, which is also the date that the newly renovated Children’s Room will be revealed. Be sure to drop by at 10:00 am for a ribbon cutting with the mayor!
