As you might have guessed from the large mounds of dirt and all the construction equipment on the upper field at Verona High School, Verona will not be holding its Fourth of July fireworks at VHS this year.
Instead, the fireworks will be held on the fields behind the Verona Community Center, at 880 Bloomfield Avenue. Spectators will sit in the bleachers at the new youth sports fields, and the fireworks will be launched from the Linn Drive field below.
And, as always, Verona’s Fourth of July fireworks will not be held on July 4. To save some money on the whole shebang, Verona has its celebration a few days ahead. This year, the date is Thursday, June 30, with a rain date of Friday, July 1. The fields will open at 7 p.m. with DJ music and the fireworks at about 9:20 p.m.
There is some parking in the Community Center lots, but the Town Council has been talking about running a shuttle bus from the center of town or other location. Stay tuned.
