Verona High School has just sent out an email saying that Sampson Drive will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, May 24, at Grove Avenue for construction starting at 8:30 a.m.

That should be after everyone has arrived for school in the morning. If you need to get to the high school parking lot after that, you’ll need to take Grove to Dodd Terrace, and then turn right onto the upper part of Sampson. “Our hope is that this is a short disruption to the flow of traffic,” VHS Principal Josh Cogdill said in the email. A subsequent email specified that the construction should only take “a few days”.

The closure is happening so that construction workers can dig the trench for the new sewer line that is being laid from VHS to Grove as part of the referendum work on the fields. The new sewer line will run along the southern edge of Sampson, rather than under the fields like the existing pipe.
