Verona High School’s head football coach, Lou Racioppe, will once again be holding his summer football camp in July. But with the redevelopment work on the VHS fields getting under way, the camp will be held at Liberty Field just above the Verona Community Center.
The camp, which is open to current first through eighth graders, will be held July 11-15, from 9 a.m. to noon each day. It will cover football fundamentals and encourage work on specialty plays like punts, kicks, long snaps and blocking, as well as speed drills, footwork and pass rush techniques.
The football camp will be staffed by Verona High School coaches and football players. Special guests may include former VHS football players with NFL and NCAA Division I college experience. Coach Racioppe has been coaching high school football for 38 years, the last 18 at VHS. He has led Verona teams to four state championships (2001, 2008, 2014, 2015) and championship game appearances in 2005 and 2006. Verona has also won seven conference championships under Racioppe (2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2014 and 2015), who is a member of the Essex County Football Coaches Hall of Fame. He played college football at Seton Hall University and has over 170 wins coaching high school football.
The cost is $150 per person, which includes a Verona football t-shirt. There is a $50 discount for additional campers from the same family. For more information, download this flyer.
