Tree-seedlingThe Verona Environmental Commission will be giving away tree seedlings at Grove Park on Saturday April 30, from 9 to 11 a.m. The free seedlings are available to all New Jersey property owners as part of the New Jersey Tree Recovery Campaign

As it gives away the seedlings, the VEC will also be holding a cleanup of Grove Park. The 1.33 acres lot is Verona’s new historic site and nature preserve, and is located at 42 Grove Avenue, just opposite Reid Place. “Any time you can give that day would be a huge help,” says VEC Chair Gloria Machnowski.

All the seedlings will be native tree species, which helps support our native birds. The commission is working with the municipal government and the DEP to conduct the distribution of 150 free trees. The seedlings will come with planting instructions. For more information please visit www.veronaec.org
