The Verona Environmental Commission is seeking applications to fill a volunteer Alternate member vacancy on the Commission. All persons interested in promoting environmental sustainability by the township government, residents and business and improving the natural environment of our town are encouraged to apply.
Interested parties must be Verona residents and have a commitment to conservation and the protection of natural resources. Individuals interested in serving on the Commission should contact VEC Chairperson Gloria Machnowski at [email protected] and submit a professional bio.
The Commission is particularly interested in applications from people with LEED credentials (Green Associate or Accredited Professional) or backgrounds in environmental engineering, sustainability, hydrology, environmental science, wetlands biology, ecology, arboriculture, or expertise as a naturalist, in stormwater management or soils Ssciences.
The Verona Environmental Commission makes recommendations to the Town Manager, Town Council, Planning Board and Board of Adjustment on best practices in efficiency, conservation and energy generation, waste collection and processing (including recycling), green procurement, building construction and renovation, water conservation, indoor air quality, sustainable transportation and land use, and other issues related to local environmental conservation programs and projects.
The VEC meets monthly on the third Wednesday of the month at the 2nd floor room of the Annex building in the Verona Community Center. For more information about the Environmental Commission, please visit its website.
