Cops & Rockers, the teen band competition sponsored by Verona PBA Local 72 and the Verona Music Parent Association, will return to the stage of Verona High School for a fourth year on Saturday, March 19.
This event was created to allow local kids to show off their musical ability on a big stage with lights, fog machines and a rocking audience. It also bridges the gap between local teens and law enforcement officers as they bond through music and fun. This year’s event will benefit the Officer Ron Thorward Fund and the Verona Music Program. Officer Thorward, a member of the Verona Police Department, passed away last May at age 44.
The organizers are looking for a few more bands to participate and if you’ve got one, you should contact Officer Dan Greco, who played in a band when he was in Verona High School, by March 3. You can email Greco at [email protected] or text him at 973-650-6910. Past shows have featured a wide range of music styles from rock and roll and classic rock to ska and heavy metal. You can download the registration form here.
The organizers are also seeking support from local businesses, with a suggested $100 donation. Contact Officer Greco for more information on being a business supporter too.
The show starts at 7 p.m. and admission is $10.
