
Verona’s municipal government is looking for a new, full-time town engineer. Jim Helb, the current town engineer, has been a consultant to Verona since retiring five years ago. Â As it did with the recent hiring of a new town manager, the Town Council is publicly posting its job search for the engineer.
The notice posted by the municipal clerk reads:
TOWNSHIP ENGINEER – TOWNSHIP OF VERONA, Essex County. Professional Engineer with minimum BS in civil engineering, NJ PE license and at least seven years experience in municipal engineering. Public Works experience preferred. Seeking customer service oriented individual who possesses strong managerial and administrative skills including ability to effectively supervise staff, enforce ordinances, and manage demanding projects (road program, drainage, project design, construction management, GIS, planning board support). Knowledge of government organization, procedures, construction plans and specifications, codes and regulations, construction estimating and personnel management. Responsible for four divisions: Engineering, Public Works, Planning and Water Pollution Control Facility. Knowledge of Professional Planning; possession of a valid NJ Professional Engineer License preferred. We have neglected to increase revenue for the Utility /Sewer Water by not having watermeters for each unit(two family(Why should those of us pay the same fee for LESS WATER USAGE??Councilman Rowan has prided himself on revenue recived by the Township.
The Council is looking at water meter updates, Inez. They know that improper metering is costing taxpayers–and the town–money. Hope to have more for you soon.
