The second annual Verona Fights Hunger Week begins on Sunday, October 11 at 9 a.m. The kick-off ceremony will be held at Kings Food Market, a sponsor of Verona Fights Hunger Week.
Members of the community are invited to participate in this week-long food drive, which benefits the Human Needs Pantry of Montclair. The Junior Woman’s Club of Verona will be collecting donations outside Kings until 4 p.m. on Sunday and at locations around town until October 17.
Currently, the Human Needs Pantry has 950 families registered for their two assistance programs, and that number is constantly growing. Mike Bruno, director of the Montclair Human Needs Pantry, said, “We are incredibly grateful for the amazing Verona Fights Hunger initiative. The unprecedented 800 bags of food we received last year were greatly needed and your efforts help us continue our mission of helping people in need.”
Visit the Juniors’ website for more information, including a coupon for Kings, a guide to drop off locations, and a list of items most needed by the Montclair Human Needs Pantry.
Verona Fights Hunger Week will conclude on Saturday, October 17, with a celebration at Verona Town Hall from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
