In support of Pope Francis’ messages on environmental concerns and caring for the world’s poor, the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit will host an ecumenical candlelight prayer vigil on Thursday, September 24 at 7:30 p.m. on the Church’s front lawn at 36 Gould Street in Verona.
As The Pope comes to visit among us here in the tri-state area, we gather in support of his tireless message of caring for those hurt most by climate change and poverty. As a Christian leader, The Pope has made it clear that we cannot ignore ecological problems and must take care of God’s creation which has been entrusted to us.
All are invited to join in this candlelight service of prayers for the planet, for an end to poverty and in support of The Pope. Join us as we cross denominational lines to affect change in our world.
This vigil is being offered as a part of OurVoices.net’s efforts to have people of all faiths give voice and action to the need for climate chance. “Light The Way” vigils are being held throughout New York City and in surrounding communities as a way to draw attention to the need for faith in environmental discussions.
