School will soon be in session and so will Sunday school at First Presbyterian Church of Verona located at 10 Fairview Avenue. Lots of exciting things will be happening:
- Sunday, August 30, 9:30 a.m.: The Rev. Deborah Oosterbaan will speak. This will be the LAST 9:30 service until next Summer
- Wednesday, September 2, 7:30 – 9:00 p.m.: Adult choir practice resumes. All are welcome. Rehearsals are held every Wednesday night. For those interested in Christmas music, the choir will be performing a cantata on December 13th which will conclude with an all congregation sing of the Hallelujah Chorus. Rehearsals are fun and casual. Come sing with us!
- Sunday, September 6, 10:15 a.m.: The Rev. Bob Pryor will preach. Refreshments will be served in the Chamberlain hall following the service.
- Sunday, September 13, 10:15 a.m. The Rev. Dr. Julia Dawson will preach as we celebrate the 19th anniversary of her ordination. A special prelude and postlude will be performed by director of music, Diane Battersby on piano and Becky Vega on flute. Ms. Vega will also accompany the choir on the anthem “People Need the Lord.” This will also be the first week that Sunday School will be in session and there will be a teen discussion group. Immediately following the service there will be a church picnic on the front lawn.
- Sunday, September 20, 10:15 a.m.: The Rev. Deborah Oosterbaan will be preaching and the choir will be singing “He Shall Feed His Flock”. Coffee hour will follow the service in Chamberlain Hall.
- Sunday, September 27, 10:15 a.m.: The Rev. Deborah Oosterbaan will lead the congregation in a service celebrating Peace Sunday. Both the youth and adult choir will be singing. The youth choir will lead the congregation in “Let There Be Peace on Earth.” The senior choir will sing the anthem, “A Blessing of Assurance” and will conclude the service with “Go Now In Peace.” There will also be a special teen discussion. Coffee hour immediately follows the service.
