The First Presbyterian Church of Verona proudly announces the appointment of Diane Battersby as director of music as of July 1, 2015. Battersby replaces Charlotte Cunningham, who served the congregation for over 40 years and retired in March of this year.
Battersby is not a newcomer to the church, which is located at 10 Fairview Avenue in Verona. She grew up in the church and eventually married the pastor’s son! An accomplished musician, Battersby was a winner of the 1992 Artists International Auditions and was presented in New York recital debut at Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall in 1993. She has served on the faculty of William Patterson University and Montclair State University.
In addition to playing piano and organ at the church, Battersby will be leading the Senior Choir. She also plans to revive the children’s Cherub and Angel Choirs.
