GreenFair2015If you’ve always wanted to be a better friend of the environment but didn’t know where to start, you’ll want to head to the center of Verona on Saturday.

That’s because Verona will hosting its first Green Fair in front of Town Hall from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. It will feature a wide variety of vendors, exhibits and demonstrations on everything from energy-efficient lighting to electric cars, as well as local environmental organizations and programs. The fair was organized by Sustainable Verona, a relatively new group that the Verona Environmental Commission encouraged Verona to create to win grants for more environmental programs.

What will you find if you attend? Information on sustainability and solar energy, as well as organic food and gardening. Morgan’s Farm will have milkweed plants for sale so you can create a friendlier landscape for monarch butterflies. You can recycle unwanted medicine (so it doesn’t fall into the wrong hands) and children’s books–the Friends of the Verona Library will be accepting donations for its summer book program and holding a book swap. PAWS, the Montclair animal shelter, will be collecting gently used blankets and towels for pet care, as well as used cell phones and printer cartridges. There’s going to be music and food, eco-friendly pampering for adults, eco-crafts for kids and much, much more.

A full list of participants can be found at the Sustainable Verona Web site.
