Police-BuntingVerona Police Officer Ron Thorward, 44, of Ogdensburg, N.J., formerly of Verona, N.J., sadly passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2015, with his wife, Colleen, by his side.

Services to celebrate Ron’s life will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 32 Lakeside Ave., Verona, on Tuesday, May 19, 2015, with visitation from 4 to 8 p.m., followed by a service at 8 p.m. Interment will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to the Prout Funeral Home of Verona.

Ron graduated from the Essex County Police Academy and was an Essex County corrections officer before joining the Verona Police Department. Officer Thorward was a member of the Verona PBA Local 72.

He was the beloved husband of Colleen (Marsh); loving father of Jacqueline and Emily; devoted son of Ronald and Linda Thorward; dear brother of Sean (Alyson) and Brandy (Marc) Frega, and a loving uncle to Sarah, Emma, Rebekah, Samantha, and Alexis. He is also survived by many friends, dedicated police officers and a grateful community.
