Editor:
In the current atmosphere of claims and counterclaims, I would like offer my reasoning on whom to support for the upcoming Verona municipal election :
Michael Nochimson’s position is clear: deliver the services Verona residents need and deserve as efficiently, cost effectively and transparently as possible. His efforts to keep town residents informed of the council’s work highlight his ethos of openness and responsibility. This is not just campaign talk. The proof is in his creation of a monthly review program of all OPRA (Open Public Records Act) requests.
A tireless advocate for fiscal responsibility in Verona, Michael Nochimson has stood up to budget increases and voted against raising taxes each year he has been on the council.
Michael understands the importance of the first-class public school system Verona has to offer – both for the education it provides our children and the impact it has on our property values. That’s why Michael has proposed an equitable split of PILOT funds between the township and the school district. Without this arrangement, the school district would receive no funding whatsoever from PILOT funds, putting further strain on taxpayers. Any assertions to the contrary are merely underhanded attempts to mislead Verona voters.
Verona taxpayers need to be heard on the town council. Along with Kevin Ryan, Michael Nochimson has been our voice. The candidates I trust and support are the ones who provide accurate specifics rather than platitudes (or inaccurate specifics, as your recent fact check shows). I hope you will join me in supporting Michael and Alex Roman, another candidate whose positions are rooted in a detailed analysis of the facts and figures, in the election on May 12th.
Sincerely,
Lisa Sivo
