If you have been waiting for the Verona Board of Education to finalize the 2015-2016 school year calendar so that you could make your vacation plans, wait no more. The calendar was released this past week and, fair warning, the kids might not like it.
To fit in the mandated number of school days, the BOE has classes starting before Labor Day this year. Students will report on Thursday, September 3, and have a full day of school on Friday, September 4 as well. In February, Verona’s public school students will once again get only a long weekend, from Friday, February 12 through Monday, February 15.
But there is a big change to spring break 2016. Verona, which has had one of the latest vacations of district’s in our area, will take a very early spring break next year. Schools will be closed from Monday, April 4 through Friday, April 8.
