The Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit has called a new priest and the Reverend Deacon Gerard “Jerry” A. Racioppi’s first service at COHS will take place on Sunday, May 17 at 9:30 a.m. Jerry is completing his Masters of Divinity studies and will be ordained a priest on June 6 at St. Luke’s Church in Montclair.
Born and raised in Verona, he attended Our Lady of the Lake grammar school. After graduating from Iona College in New Rochelle, Jerry began a 20-year career in human resources with Marriott Hotels. In 2010, feeling a call to ordained ministry that had been with him since his childhood, Jerry acted on it and began the formal process to ordination as a priest. In August 2012, he started full-time seminary work at Drew Theological Seminary in Madison.
Jerry says, “I am very excited to return to my hometown and be a part of the Holy Spirit Verona family. Having led an evening worship service in March, I found COHS to be a welcoming, loving and spirit-filled community.”
All are welcome to attend on May 17th, to welcome Jerry home to Verona and to the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit!
