Dear Nixle User,

At approximately 8:30am this morning, one of our preschools located on Gould Street experienced an unusual incident.

An unknown white male entered the school and began asking questions about the program. When school staff began to ask this individual questions about his child, he was evasive and his answers did not make sense. When the school employee turned around, this individual left the building.

Verona Police were immediately contacted, responded, thoroughly searched the school building and investigated the incident. At this time, the suspected individual has not been located.

All known information about this person is as follows:

White male, mid 40’s, 6’0” – 6’2” in height, thin build, brown hair with some gray, and wearing glasses and a burgundy colored shirt. The vehicle that he is believed to be operating is described as a burgundy 4-door sedan.

Verona Police Department will continue to investigate this incident. If you have any information that you think may help in our investigation, please contact D/Sgt. Tim Banta at (973) 857-4764. All calls will be kept confidential.

UPDATE: About two hours after the initial alert, the Verona Police sent a second message to say that the individual had been identified and that the incident was “cleared”.
