healthy-foodThe Junior Woman’s Club is once again coordinating a Verona Fights Hunger food drive, to benefit the Montclair Human Needs Food Pantry. It will take place from Saturday, March 21, to Friday, April 3.

Collection bins will be set up at all Verona public schools, the Community Center and the Verona Public Library. Individuals and families are encouraged to contribute healthy breakfast cereals that have less than 12 grams of sugar (such as Cheerios and oatmeal), canned fruit and boxed milk. Everything will go to the Human Needs Food Pantry, which is the food bank used by Verona residents.

Four percent of Verona’s households live below the federal poverty level, according to a 2014 report published by the United Way of Northern New Jersey. Another 20 percent of households struggle to make ends meet and cannot always afford groceries and other basic necessities.

For more information about the food drive or to make a financial donation, please go to www.veronajuniors.org or email [email protected].
