The Verona Sports Boosters would like to honor Claire Fitzpatrick as this week’s Senior Athlete of the Week.
Fitzpatrick is a member of the girl’s basketball team, whose record currently stands at 9-6. She is averaging eight points, four rebounds and two assists per game. Fitzpatrick’s high game this year was against Caldwell, when she scored 18 points and pulled down six rebounds.
Her best Verona High School basketball memory was winning the semi-final sectional group 1 game at home in 2014. She also has a favorite soccer memory, which was upsetting New Providence in the state semi-finals this past soccer season.
When not on the hardwood, Fitzpatrick calls lasagna her favorite food, “Friends” her favorite TV show, and is a huge fan of the Villanova Wildcats Men’s basketball team. She also has a pet dog named Scooby.
The best teacher or coach Fitzpatrick has had over the years is her current basketball coach, Jess Del Vecchio, and she would choose Jimmy Fallon as the person she would most like to have dinner with. Her greatest vacation memory was a trip to Florence, Italy with her family.
Next year, Fitzpatrick will be attending the University of Scranton, where she will continue her soccer career.
The Verona Sports Boosters wishes Claire Fitzpatrick success in achieving all of her future dreams, including having dinner with Jimmy Fallon!
During the 2014-2015 school year, the Verona Sports Boosters will recognize a different male and female senior athlete at Verona High School. The Boosters support male and female athletes in all VHS sports through a variety of fundraisers and recognition events.
