TCH-NewThe Children’s House is inviting the community to an open house and parent education night, “Disciplining Your Child”, on Thursday, January 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. This is a chance to learn more about The Children’s House and its approach to education, meet the director and schedule a tour, while also learning about the topic of discipline from leading Montessori expert Ginny Cusack.

Questions to be discussed include:

  • What are the best disciplinary techniques?
  • How is discipline used in the Montessori approach to education?
  • How can I use the Montessori approach at home with my child?
  • How does the parents’ family background and personality impact their belief and choice of discipline?
  • What do I do if my child doesn’t respond to discipline?
  • How do I handle temper tantrums?
  • Should I use “time-outs”?
  • How often should parents say the word “no”?
  • How does discipline change as my child gets older?

Please RSVP by emailing TCHVerona @aol.com or calling Coleen at 1-973-857-1234. Please note that this is an adult-only event. The Children’s House is located at 26 Montrose Avenue, just off Bloomfield Avenue near the center of Verona.
