Thanks to a dedicated effort of all its members and the generosity of our neighbors and friends, the Verona Lions Club is happy to announce the successful sale of all 1,500 printed tickets in our annual 50/50 campaign to raise funds necessary to continue their varied community service projects. The 2014 50/50 fund raiser resulted in a collection of $15,000, $7,500 of which will be used to sustain the Verona Lions Club’s various social service activities including; the Verona/ Cedar Grove Medical Transportation Vehicle, Lions Medical Loan closet, annual free eye/ear testing, support of Camp Marcella (NJ Camp for blind children) as well as continued support of various sight-related and local Verona charities.
The success of this years’ campaign allowed two phone calls on December 16 to the two lucky winners:
Ken McCourt won the $6,000 1st prize; Nancy Lakubczyk won the $1,500 2nd prize.
The members of the Verona Lions Club want to thank everyone who purchased a ticket(s) as well as the local businesses in Verona who permitted the organization to set up a ticket sales table outside their premises. The generosity of all these supportive patrons will allow the Verona Lions Club to continue its community service throughout the new year of 2015.
