46 Montrose Avenue, a former church rectory, has been renovated throughout.

For decades, the house at 46 Montrose Avenue had been a church rectory, the housing for the priest assigned to the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit over on Gould Street. But times change, and many congregations in Verona and elsewhere find themselves no longer needing to offer housing for their leadership. The church sold the house earlier this year and, if you’ll pardon the pun, the property has found its salvation.

While the home’s beautiful woodwork and fireplace have been maintained, the renovation of 46 Montrose includes new electrical and plumbing, a gourmet kitchen, finished basement and a new garage. There are two closets now in the master bedroom, one of which is a walk-in. Speaking of walking, 46 Montrose is only a short walk to Forest Avenue elementary school as well as to the shops and transportation on Bloomfield Avenue.

If you want to see the inside, however, you’ll need to wait a bit: There are no buyer showings until Tuesday, December 2. The listing agent is Verona resident Elisabeth Morris, who works out of the Montclair office of Keller Williams.

There are five other new listings this week and three open houses, but no changes to the prices of other active listings.
