MyVeronaNJ-Police-SlideAn accident on the western part of Franklin Street on Tuesday afternoon damaged three cars, but it could have been a lot worse.

According to Chief Doug Huber of the Verona Police Department, at about 2:45 p.m. 19-year-old Joseph Kubacki turned onto Franklin from Fairview Avenue. The Verona resident told the police officers who responded to the scene that another car was coming up Franklin and he swerved to avoid it. Kubacki hit a parked car and flipped. His car then slid down the street and hit another parked car. Huber said that both cars were parked legally on Franklin and were unoccupied at the time that they were hit.

Huber said that Kubacki did suffer some injuries in the crash, but said they did not appear to be life-threatening. There is “no indication at this time that speed or impairment was a factor” in the crash, Huber added.
