The Verona Sports Boosters would like to congratulate Julia Tole as the Girls Senior Athlete of the Week.
This season, the Hillbillies girls soccer team has gone 11-7 and Julia has been their leading scorer with 11 goals and 4 assists. Verona will face Secaucus in the state tournament where the Hillbillies are the 3rd seed in North Jersey Section 2 Group 1. Julia injured her knee during her sophomore year and did not fully recover until late in her junior season. This winter she will be playing basketball and in the spring she can be found on the lacrosse field.
Some things you may not know about Julia: She is a Taylor Swift fan, chicken fingers are her favorite food, and she loves the beach. Two of her favorite vacation spots are Costa Rica and the Outer Banks in North Carolina.
Julia’s fondest memory from her VHS soccer career is winning the 2011 State Sectional Championship. Although she has not finalized her college plans for next year, Julia enjoys science and is leaning towards attending a Big Ten university. Congratulations to Julia and wishing you continued success from the Verona Sports Boosters!
During the 2014-2015 school year, the Verona Sports Boosters will recognize a different male and female senior athlete at Verona High School every week. The Boosters support male and female athletes in all VHS sports through a variety of fundraisers and recognition events.
