The EastRiver Ensemble will grace the stage at Caldwell University on Sunday, November 9, with their upbeat renditions of folk and traditional music from their native Dongbei and Hebei regions of northern China. Since 2000 these New York City-based musicians have been known for their improvisational style and for giving a decidedly urban American feel to their performances using traditional Chinese instruments. The concert will begin at 4 p.m. in the Alumni Theatre and will include some description of the instruments and traditional musical elements.
The production is part of the university’s concert series, now in its 19th season. General admission is $20, and tickets are $15 for students and seniors. Individual tickets and group or subscription discounts are available through advance purchase by mail, online or at the door. The group discount (10 or more tickets to a single concert) is 20 percent. Checks should be made payable to Caldwell University and sent to Caldwell University Concert Series, Laura Greenwald, Music Department, Caldwell University, 120 Bloomfield Ave., Caldwell, New Jersey 07006-6195.
