chard-winterThe Let’s Talk Vegetable Gardening Series continues on Saturday, October 25, from 10 a.m. to noon in the Teaching Garden at the Essex County Presby Memorial Iris Gardens.

This session will focus on preparing your vegetable garden for next spring, cool weather crops and extending the season with hoop houses. This a great format for gardeners to visit the garden, sit back and engage in informative discussions about their gardening interests. Bring your own lawn chair. Rain or shine.

On Saturday, November 8, at 10 a.m., there will be a presentation on container vegetable gardening at Presby. This presentation will introduce novice and experienced gardeners alike to the benefits of growing vegetables in containers. Topics will include container and soil selection, vegetables that thrive in containers, irrigation, fertilization, dealing with pests and using replanting techniques to increase yields.

Classes are free but pre-registration is required. Call 973-228-2210. Donations accepted to support the Teaching Garden.
