If you’ve missed this game before, know that it is a series of games between police and fire departments in Verona and neighboring towns, all to benefit an injured veteran. This year’s tournament will benefit Aaron Alonso, a Marine sergeant from Jefferson, N.J. who lost his legs to a land mine in Afghanistan this past February.
The tournament starts at 11 a.m. and features teams from Caldwell, North Caldwell, West Caldwell and Cedar Grove, in addition to the Verona Police and Fire Departments. There will be music from DJ Chris Segarra of Legendery Entertainment, a host of kids’ activities and food. The games will be held on Veterans Field, right next to the Verona Community Center at 880 Bloomfield Avenue.
