This is all that’s left of the garage at 92 Linden Avenue after a smokey fire gutted the structure just before 7 p.m. on Mother’s Day.
The Verona Fire Department responded to the fire with four engines and quickly brought the blaze under control. As they did, smoke rose high above the house and trees, and the intense heat of the blaze buckled the siding on the back of the house.
The homeowners, Patrick and Regina Gray, were home at the time of the blaze, but were not injured. Verona Building Inspector Tom Jacobson arrived on the scene at about 7:40 and assessed the damage.
