The Pascack Valley girls lacrosse team was nearly 45 late to Centennial Field yesterday. While they waited for their opponent, the Verona High School team drilled their shooting and defensive moves over and over. It was time well spent: When the Indians filled did take the field, Verona delivered a crushing 13-7 defeat.
More than a third of the Verona scoring came from one player, Lauren Ednie, who had five goals and an assist on the afternoon. But there were plenty of goals to go around. Emilia Frizzi and Nicola Perzichilli had two apiece, while Jackie Brozyna, Cole McConnachie, Gabi Mottola and Dana Pena each had one. Frizzi and Brozyna were also each credited with three assists. The Hillbillies’ defense kept Pascack from getting too much traction anywhere on the field, and Amanda Maguire blocked most of the rest, adding 11 saves to her total.
The girls, who are now 2-0, travel to Indian Hills on Wednesday afternoon.
