The Verona-based band Defending Champions will be performing a free show at the Montclair Public Library this Thursday, November 14, at 7 p.m.
The band’s songs are a mix of rock, soul, Ska, world and Gypsy music. Their most recent album, “Breakfast of …The Defending Champions,” has been nominated in the Outstanding Album category in this year’s Hoboken Music Awards. Here’s a bit of their sound, from an appearance at Tierney’s earlier this year.
The concert is part of the Global Beat Series organized by the Jewish Service for the Developmentally Disabled’s (JSDD) Wellness, Arts, Enrichment (WAE) Center. Verona resident Dean Nevolis is a founding member of the Defending Champions as well as the assistant manager and artist facilitator for the WAE Center’s Art Studio.
