It’s a sports season tradition at Verona High School: Senior Day. This past week, the boys soccer team and the girls volleyball squad celebrated their senior players.

The boys soccer team had theirs last Monday, when they host Nutley High School. That game ended in a 3-2 loss for the Hillbillies despite goals by sophomore Billy Gault and sophomore Troy Carrington. Losses to Glen Ridge and Newark East Side later in the week dropped the boys to 8-10-1 on the season. They host Wallkill Valley on Tuesday, with a 4 p.m. start.

The volleyball team continued to build their win record on their senior day, when they defeated Columbia High School 2-0. Eliza Sniatkowski and Nikita Joshi each had seven kills in the match and Sniatkowski added four more kills to her total. Fellow senior Jessica Parsons had 10 service points and three aces. The VHS girls, who have a 14-6 record, travel to Newark Academy today for a 4:30 p.m. game.
