Essex-Golf-BermanThat smiling face you see to the right is Verona resident Pete Berman, who won the Amateur Division of the 3rd Annual Essex County Open Golf Tournament this past Saturday. Berman had a three-round total of 225 strokes.

Cedar Grove resident Eric Richards (left) won the tournament’s Senior Division, with a three-round total of 236 strokes. A total of 70 golfers participated in the tournament. The championship round was played Saturday, October 19, at Essex County Francis Byrne Golf Course in West Orange. Two qualifying rounds were played at Essex County Weequahic Golf Course and Essex County Hendricks Field Golf Course in Belleville earlier in the month. A total of 70 golfers participated in the tournament.

The winners, pictured here with Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr., received a plaque for their efforts and, even more importantly perhaps, a reserved parking space for the year at the Essex County golf course of their choice. (Photo by Glen Frieson)
