Jill Sprong scored the only goal for the Verona High School girls soccer team yesterday as the squad lost to Nutley High School 3-1 on Centennial Field.
Samantha Haddock, Victoria Kealy and Zoe Steck had one goal apiece for Nutley, and Verona goalie Diana Flores did a good job keeping more Nutley attempts off the scoreboard: She had 15 saves on the afternoon.
The Verona girls are now 2-8. They host Mount Saint Dominic at home on Monday.
