Verona Baseball & Softball League players presented the Town Council with $1,000 for the Verona Children’s Fund at last night’s Town Council meeting.

The donation grew from an effort started by Rich Williamson, now VBSL’s president, who had his company, Carney Roofing, donate $10 for each home run to the Children’s Fund. There were 25 home runs hit in the most recent VBSL season, for a $250 donation. This year, VBSL matched that donation and the Mayor’s Charity matched the monies pledged by both.

Many of the home run sluggers were on hand to be recognized at last night’s meeting: Melanie Matarazzo, Julia Rigney, Meghan Yeates, Peter Farley, Tommy Mulligan, Anthony Zamloot, Matt Monroe, Patrick McMurtrie, and Quinn Zebrowski.VBSL-Homerun
