Re: Incident at Forest Avenue School September 11, 2013

Dear Parents, Guardians and Staff:

Today at approximately 1:00 PM, Mr. Monacelli, the principal, was informed by the office staff that someone who identified himself as the mailman was buzzed in to the school but did not report to the office. Mr. Monacelli immediately attempted to locate the person but was unsuccessful. Within two minutes the school was put in lock down status and the Verona Police Department and my office were notified. Within minutes the police were on site.

The Verona Police Department then conducted a thorough search of the building and did not find anyone. The postal authorities were also contacted and confirmed that one of their employees entered the building without reporting to the office. By 1:50 PM all normal school activities were back online. The Verona Police Department and the school district work closely together training for situations like this, to keep our children and staff safe. If you have any questions or comments please contact my office.

Sincerely,
Steven A. Forte
