Last Friday may have been one of the hottest days of the summer, but a dedicated group of kids of the First Presbyterian Church of Verona got together under the guidance of Christina Turkington, the church’s director of Christian education, to repair and repaint some of the manger animals that grace the front lawn of the church every December.

Why did they start their work so early? The animals will be on display on the front lawn of the church (10 Fairview Avenue, Verona) this week to announce the upcoming annual Blessing of the Animals. This service, always a favorite, will be held on Sunday, August 18 at 10:15 a.m. All are invited to bring their animals (including favorite stuffed animal pals) to be blessed. Refreshments will be available after the service for all attendees and their pets.
