Verona residents Kevin Ohlweiler and Marsha Shreier have leading roles in a musical that opens on Saturday in West Orange.

The two will be performing in Into The Woods, Stephen Sondheim’s take on what might happen if the wishes in fairy tales really did come true. It’s an interesting exploration of actions and consequences, and it contains several now classic Sondheim songs, like “Children Will Listen”.

Shreier has the role of The Witch (Bernadette Peters in the original Broadway production), while Ohlweiler plays The Steward. The performance takes place through the auspices of the New Jersey Arts Incubator at the Oskar Schindler Performing Arts Center (OSPAC).

OSPAC is an open-air theater located at 4 Boland Drive near Crystal Lake, just past the intersection of Eagle Rock and Prospect avenues. You should bring a chair or a blanket, and you can also bring a picnic dinner.

On July 20, 26, and 27 the gates open at 7 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m. On July 21 and 28, the gates open at 6 p.m. and the show is at 7 p.m.

Tickets, which are sold at the gate, are a bargain. Adults are $5 and children under 10 are free.
