Allison Smartt, a 2007 graduate of Verona High School, is the sound designer and production manager of a theater piece that has started an online funding campaign.

MOM BABY GOD is a new, immersive piece of political theater that brings audiences face-to-face with the anti-abortion movement. It exposes how quickly and efficiently the right-wing is stripping away women’s reproductive rights. MOM BABY GOD needs help to take the show on the road.

The show raises awareness about the urgent need to defend reproductive rights and presents an exciting opportunity to bring together live theater and activism. It engages younger audiences in the need for a renewed commitment to reproductive rights advocacy.

The MOM BABY GOD team, Madeline Burrows (creator/artist) and Smartt, need the help of fellow reproductive rights activists and theater-goers to make the tour a reality. It is seeking funding through a Kickstarter campaign to subsidize performance costs, purchase supplies and equipment to support the show, and pay emerging theater artists a living wage.

To support the show, make a pledge through its Kickstarter site before July 7. Kickstarter is an online tool to fund creative projects. Project creators set a funding goal and deadline. If the project reaches its funding goal, its creators get their pledge money. If not, the pledges are voided.
