BlastingJack McEvoy and Jessica Pearson were among the leaders of the opposition to a proposed development near Everett Field that would have required three months of daily blasting.

The project was rejected by the Board of Adjustment in March, but the potential for blasting for an alternative development remains. Since blasting is regulated largely by the state, McEvoy and Pearson are seeking support for a petition to change the blasting laws in New Jersey. The petition was developed in response to a development in a residential neighborhood in Millburn, but its potential impact is statewide.

The petition can be found here. McEvoy and Pearson also presented information on blasting regulations that could be adopted in Verona at the first Town Council meeting in June.
