DePalma Catches Passes, Eyes At Chargers’ Camp

4240070852_0bcd9cbcdfThere’s a nice shout-out to Verona native Dan DePalma on the Web site of the San Diego Chargers today.’s managing editor, Ricky Henne, says DePalma’s work in the team’s off-season mini-camp is being noticed by his teammates and coaches. “He’s done a nice job and he’s made the most of his opportunities,” Head Coach Mike McCoy is quoted as saying.

DePalma was picked up by the Chargers earlier this year after being with both the Jets and the Giants, whom he helped train for their 2012 Super Bowl win.

He’s focused now on making the Charger’s roster and doing it with his classic determination:

“I’m really blessed to have good quarterbacks throwing me the ball,” he said. “If I get open, I know the ball will be put right on me. As a receiver, that’s all you can hope for. Having good hands is something I’ve been working at for a while. When I first came into the NFL, the balls came out a lot faster and a lot harder. So I really focused on getting on the jug machine and some catching drills, quick passes with one eye open one eye closed and other quick drills I learned along the way that have really helped me.”
