RCA Records has generously donated three autographed guitars for the Cops & Rockers show.
Kelly Clarkson and Pink each signed a Fender Squier Stratocaster, while the band Daughtry (front man Chris Daughtry was an American Idol finalist) signed an Epiphone Sunburst acoustic. The guitars are going to be auctioned off during the show and the proceeds will be split between Verona PBA Local #72 and the Verona Music Parents Association, who organize the evening.
Before that happens there will be lots of great music, much of it created by the teen bands themselves, who are required to perform original songs as well as covers. The bands will feature Verona teens as well as kids from neighboring towns. The grand prize is professional recording of one original song and the creation of a music video of that song. Rocktec Music of Verona is providing the backline instruments, fog machines and PA equipment. The winning band will be chosen by audience vote, which again will be done via text messages thanks to MyVeronaNJ.com.
Cops & Rockers will be held at the Verona High School Auditorium on Saturday, May 18. Doors open at 5 p.m. Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door.
