Somebody better clear off some shelf space at the Posner house: New York’s theater groups are out with their 2013 award nominations, and Ken Posner has earned six of them.
The Verona resident designed the lighting for three Broadway shows this season–the revivals of Cinderella and Pippin, and Cyndi Lauper’s Kinky Boots–and this morning he received a Tony award nomination for each of those efforts.
Yesterday, he got a Drama Desk nomination for Pippin, and last week the Outer Critics Circle nominated Posner for his lighting work on Pippin and Cinderella. All three shows are up for a raft of other awards: Kinky Boots has gotten a Tony nomination for best musical and Pippin and Cinderella have both been nominated for best revival of a musical.
Posner has more than 45 Broadway play and musical theater lighting designs to his credit, including Hairspray, Legally Blonde, Catch Me If You Can, and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. He has won an Outer Critics’ Circle award before, as well as Tony, Drama Desk, OBIE and Jeff awards.
