Montclair Township Manager Marc Dashield unveiled a preliminary version of his town’s 2013 budget earlier this week and the numbers are both worse–and better–than Verona’s. The total budget will rise 3%, driven by a hefty 6.3% raise for police salaries and a 3.8% jump for its paid fire department.
But because Montclair has far more ratables than Verona, the $77.9 million budget will only result in an average tax increase of $94.37 per household.
