This week will end with a musical at Verona High School and two VHS wrestlers traveling to Atlantic City for the state championships. But before then we’ve got meetings and maybe a winter storm to deal with.
Budgets are on the agenda this week. The Town Council will be touching on the municipal budget in their Monday night session and there will be another round of budget workshops next week. The lingering effects of Hurricane Sandy are putting pressure on the budget this year.
The school budget will be the topic of a special meeting of the Board of Education on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. Last Thursday, Trenton announced that it will be doling out an extra $87 million in state aid to schools this year. Unfortunately, none of it is coming to Verona. We have to make more cuts to stay within the state-mandated 2% cap.
