Girls Hoops Powers Past Pompton Lakes

Pompton-LanganThe Verona High School girls basketball team put their game on cruise control yesterday afternoon and powered past Pompton Lakes 42-29 in the first round of the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 1, Group 1 tournament.

The lady Hillbillies have had the floor pretty much to themselves in their final regular season games, earning the No. 3 berth in the playoffs. Led by senior Amanda Langan–who contributed 18 points and 10 rebounds to the playoff game–the team displayed supreme confidence from one end of their home court to the other. Julie Rosenberg continued to build her record for VHS, scoring 13 points on the afternoon.

The girls basketball team will host its next opponent, Park Ridge High School, at home on Thursday at 5 p.m. Park Ridge advanced after narrowly defeating New Milford, 39-35, on Tuesday.Pompton-Rosenberg
