1. Budget Workshops Begin: The first of the breakout workshops on Verona’s 2013 budget will be held Monday night in the Town Council chambers, beginning at 7 p.m. The police, recreation and community services budgets, which are among the town’s biggest cost drivers, will be reviewed tonight. Town Manager Joe Martin indicated at the Council meeting last week that we are looking at an increase of more than 2% in the budget because of Hurricane Sandy, and that tax rates will likely rise because ratables fell again last year.
